Conference proceedings paper from IMDIS-2018 describing Dinimar’s method for data integration of georeferenced benthic survey data with multiparameter probe measurements data.
Habitat mapping of coastal ecosystems in a coastal area in Bulgaria with cultural heritage and a Natura 2000 marine habitats with high value ( Nessebar peninsula). Our work contributed towards the implementation of a management plan taking into account both the cultural and environmental heritage in the area.
А project dedicated to the development, testing and practical implementation of advanced methods for georeferenced scuba diver photo and video surveys of the shallow-water benthos combined with automated measurements of physical, chemical and biological parameters of waters. Our team combined already available state-of-the-art equipment, developed a specialized database for efficient data synchronization and analysis, and conducted extensive tests of the system, demonstrating its readiness for work.
A ‘rapid’ 4 assessment of water quality along the whole Black Sea coast of Bulgaria (September 2018), testing the usage of high speed boats and portable oceanographic multiparameter sensors. Along with measurements of physical, chemical and biological water parameters, we conducted a visual monitoring of floating marine litter and marine mammals in the coastal zone.

A multidisciplinary study of the ecological effects of an innovative Mytilus galloprovincialis aquaculture design. We monitored the colonization of the artificial reefs by mussels and other benthic fauna, quantified the filtering capacity of the newly formed ecosystem, as well as the change in fish biodiversity around the structures. Our team investigated the possible negative impacts from the accumulation of particulate organic matter on the sea bottom around the artificial reefs.
A study of the change in the chemical status of marine waters in a coastal area after the construction of a waste water treatment plant (WWTP). We conduced a pre- and post- WWTP construction monitoring campaign, measuring nutrient concentrations, changes in water quality, and possible positive effects on the ecological status of local benthic phyto- and zoobenthic communities.

A joint work with our colleagues from NIMRD-Romania and Dicon Group-Bulgaria on intercallibrating the methodologies for evaluation of WFD Ecological status based on BQE-Macroalgae. Our work resulted in the successful completion of the excercies and acceptance by the European Commission (report in Bulgarian)
