We are DINIMAR
DiNiMar is a marine research company with experience in a wide range of marine environmental studies. We have worked in marine waters quality monitoring, coastal ecosystems mapping and ecological status monitoring, ecological impact assessment studies, European marine environment policies implementation (WFD and MSFD),research, development and testing of innovative methods and instrumentation. Our home is the Black Sea and Europe, but we do have the means and experience to work in other basins and continents.

Dimitar Berov, PhD
Dr Dimitar Berov is the founder of the company and in charge of marine research operations in Dinimar. He is also a Senior Researcher at the Laboratory for Marine Ecology, Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IBER-BAS), where he focuses on studies of Black Sea coastal ecosystems and the impacts of human activities on their ecological status.
His main scientific interest is the state, distribution and functioning of phytobenthic communities in the coastal zone of the Black Sea and the development of indices and methodologies for the evaluation of the ecological state of these ecosystems. He is actively involved in various national and European research projects focused on the implementation of the MSFD, WFD and Habitats Directive in Bulgaria and Romania. He has participated in the preparation of the initial MSFD assessment report for Bulgaria (2013) and in the successfully-completed WFD intercalibration exercise for eutrophication indicators between Bulgaria and Romania (2014-2015). He has a BSc in Biology and Oceanography from Jacobs University Bremen, an MSc in Marine Ecology and Biological Oceanography from the University of Southern Denmark, and a Ph.D. on the Structure of the communities of brown macroalgae from the genus Cystoseira and the impact of eutrophication on their distribution from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Nikolay Berov, Eng., MBA
Nikolay Berov is an engineer with decades of experience in project management and finances. He has worked in microelectronics and automotive industry, and more recently – in photovoltaics. He has extensive experience in preparing and managing R&D and production projects –and has completed several green projects for solar power supply and water purification in Bulgaria, Europe, Africa and South Asia.
